I want my student to see an Assignment that is throughout the quarter. Do I keep Assignments visible?
Mo Rezvani
11:49
ok thx
Catherine Firpo
12:03
HI Heidi, I could not hear Mo's question.
Alexis
13:59
How do I create subheadings like "essay structure" and "writing introduction" that you have in your week 1 module?
Milena Grozeva
14:12
How about making Syllabus visible? This would allow students to see all the assignments.
Brandon Gainer
15:42
Alexis, one of the drop down options in modules that Heidi will touch on is "create text header".
cecilia hui
16:06
Brandon and Heidi, that makes a lot of sense. I never thought about it. I have assignments all listed. thanks for pointing it out.
Royce Cano
16:39
And you don't need to assign pts when you put a page on the to do list. Correct?
Heidi King
16:54
Correct
Brandon Gainer
17:02
That's true, Milena: The syllabus will generate an assignment list and students can navigate there. However, on the syllabus page you can still include instructions to direct them to modules.
Milena Grozeva
17:21
Thanks!
georgia acker
19:29
How many days before the start would you recommend publishing the upcoming week module?
Brandon Gainer
21:12
Georgia: It depends on the instructor and course design. Some of my classes are divided into "units" (3-4 week chunks), so I'll publish them in those blocks.
Greg Stachnick
21:22
Can I change the order of modules after they are published
Brandon Gainer
21:27
Yes.
Brandon Gainer
22:01
However, it might not be a great idea unless you give your students a heads up about that.
John Thomsen
22:41
how do you hide or show assignments
evie francis
22:41
How do I keep Susan or Joe Public out of my course and out of my zoom ?
Brandon Gainer
23:44
John: If you're talking about "Assignments" on the left navigation, that's done through settings. Within the module itself, you can click the circle next to the associated assignment in modules (where the green check marks are now)
Brandon Gainer
24:10
Does that answer it?
Mo Rezvani
25:40
yes
Mo Rezvani
31:17
What is the difference between pages and assignments again?
Brandon Gainer
32:04
A page just contains information.Assignments can contain info, but link to something that can be submitted to the student end, and also populates the gradebook, Mo.
georgia acker
32:10
Under Getting Started, you show Communicating with Me & Online Office Hours. Are they separate or could online office hours be within communicating with me?
Brandon Gainer
32:20
Yes, they could be.
Milena Grozeva
34:38
That was very helpful, thanks, Heidi!
Royce Cano
35:13
I love that new box feature! Before I just put syllabus in files because of what you said Heidi . Now will put it here.
Mo Rezvani
35:31
Thanks
Catherine Firpo
36:40
Heidi, can the first page be the syllabus?
Royce Cano
40:13
can you show how to link again?
Andrea Lee
41:12
If I have all my modules show up on the home page, can/should I then hide modules?
Veronica Avila
43:02
Why, or would you, want to hide announcements?
cecilia hui
46:42
when I make an announcement, will it also send an email to the students?
Veronica Avila
46:47
That is awesome!
Catherine Firpo
46:52
Can you run though that again?
Royce Cano
47:10
Is there a way to keep standard announcements from quarter to quarter?
cecilia hui
47:29
Can I modify this for students?
Royce Cano
47:50
Is the email a duplicate of the announcement content or that there is an announcement?
Brandon Gainer
48:05
When you copy a course from a previous quarter (Winter to Spring) it will carry over the announcements.
Brandon Gainer
48:41
However, you might want to be mindful of that since you might be referencing something in an announcement that's specific to that quarter (i.e. you might not want to keep an announcement that says "Happy President's Day!)
Veronica Avila
48:45
What if students have an email listed in their notifications settings they want to change.
Mo Rezvani
49:22
can you go to student view with the annuncement activated please. Do they see modules as well as announcements?
Rick Maynard
49:34
Is there a file size limit?
Richard Hansen
49:40
If students turn off “push” announcements, can the instructor override it?
Mo Rezvani
51:31
thanks
Rick Maynard
51:41
Me
Karl Isacson
52:35
can students upload videos for public speaking classes?
georgia acker
52:37
Should we mention to students that they can change notifications?
Anne-Marie Waldsmith
53:18
how can you email students individually through canvas?
Royce Cano
53:20
so when send announcements the students email get the actual content of the announcement. Correct?
Roderic Taylor
53:47
How can we view a recording of this meeting after it is over?
Brandon Gainer
54:06
It will be posted on the Online Education page.
Roderic Taylor
54:28

Is there a simple process for using Turnitin with written work students submit for canvas assignments
Hassan Bourgoub
56:32
If students change their email, they may also use different names or switch the order of their first and last name in linked app which will cause a problem in importing grades.
Alexis
57:01
How do I "create text headers" in a module? Thanks!
georgia acker
58:15
How do students change to their preferred name?
Royce Cano
01:00:33
how do you put basic canvas course onto dashboard
Alexis
01:00:37
Could you show us how to "create text headers"? Sorry for asking again!
