I want my student to see an Assignment that is throughout the quarter. Do I keep Assignments visible?

How do I create subheadings like "essay structure" and "writing introduction" that you have in your week 1 module?
How about making Syllabus visible? This would allow students to see all the assignments.
Alexis, one of the drop down options in modules that Heidi will touch on is "create text header".
Brandon and Heidi, that makes a lot of sense. I never thought about it. I have assignments all listed. thanks for pointing it out.
And you don't need to assign pts when you put a page on the to do list. Correct?
That's true, Milena: The syllabus will generate an assignment list and students can navigate there. However, on the syllabus page you can still include instructions to direct them to modules.
How many days before the start would you recommend publishing the upcoming week module?
Georgia: It depends on the instructor and course design. Some of my classes are divided into "units" (3-4 week chunks), so I'll publish them in those blocks.
Can I change the order of modules after they are published
However, it might not be a great idea unless you give your students a heads up about that.

John: If you're talking about "Assignments" on the left navigation, that's done through settings. Within the module itself, you can click the circle next to the associated assignment in modules (where the green check marks are now)

A page just contains information.Assignments can contain info, but link to something that can be submitted to the student end, and also populates the gradebook, Mo.
Under Getting Started, you show Communicating with Me & Online Office Hours. Are they separate or could online office hours be within communicating with me?

Is the email a duplicate of the announcement content or that there is an announcement?
When you copy a course from a previous quarter (Winter to Spring) it will carry over the announcements.
However, you might want to be mindful of that since you might be referencing something in an announcement that's specific to that quarter (i.e. you might not want to keep an announcement that says "Happy President's Day!)
What if students have an email listed in their notifications settings they want to change.
can you go to student view with the annuncement activated please. Do they see modules as well as announcements?

Is there a simple process for using Turnitin with written work students submit for canvas assignments
If students change their email, they may also use different names or switch the order of their first and last name in linked app which will cause a problem in importing grades.
