36:17
incredibly well put, @sydrah

39:53
@panel, i think something you're all demonstrating is personal accountability and we need to model that better and more as a college

41:39
Are the town halls/meetings at the same time each week?

46:16
@Nick, they are monthly and times vary (typically 12-1:30pm). foothill.edu/events has the winter quarter ones posted. Thanks for joining!

47:36

Thank you!

49:24
incredibly disappointing that people read your letter, and thought an appropriate response could possibly include anything even remotely close to "that's not our job"

50:05
^^^ ownership & accountability^^^

51:07
Go Susie!

51:11
I don’t know if the thought was “it’s not my job”? I’m hearing it as, we agree and want to do something, but how do we go about doing it.

51:25
@Mike from my perspective it was never a “that’s not our job” it was, we support this and we want to work with you, and we also have to recognize what is not within our jurisdiction (what we do not have direct power to make decisions on) so we will work with you to encourage action by those who are empowered to make these decisions.

51:39
I agree, Mike. Governance councils are entities who guide process, even if only through recommendations. There is power in coming together and contributing anything we can to helping our campus community meet the demands of our students, especially since they so closely relate/parallel to the Equity strategy for the school year.

54:05
"it's not our job" is an extremely unfavorable take, granted, but i said it that way to make a point, it also reminded me of @carolyn's point about having to be careful not to reinforce existic systemic, disproportionate power dynamics

54:30
*existing

54:58
It’s just a good opportunity for us to think about the presence of race and the power dynamics in our governance structures

55:07
When its important enough you will find a way to make it happen. The 'power' and 'privilege' doesn't add up. When it matters you make it happen you figure it out and make it happen.

55:14
^^^ +1

55:42
Excuses do not get assignments done for classes.

55:55
Yes, Andre.

55:57
@Nick, 12-1:30pm, thanks!!!

56:20
@LAURA YESSSSSS

56:43
@Erin 12-1:30 okay thanks!

58:16
can i comment on this question after the panelists?

58:44
yes, you may do so during the open forum if thats ok mike!

58:58
perfect, thank you!

01:10:34
Shit, I forgot I have a department meeting at 12what I wanted to say about the “how do you think staff/admin/faculty feel about the letter” question is:I think people feel *scared*, there are definitely staff, faculty, and administrators who are afraid of being held accountable or for other repercussions that could result from the student letter, they fear for their identity, jobs, or status,i think it’s important to remember that the reasons for that are as diverse as the people who feel that way and that part of that is, like @carolyn said, related to where they currently are on the “spectrum of racial consciousness”don't want this to be a wet blanket type thing, but just to remember that not all the reactions to the student letter/demands are positive

01:11:27
I can speak Mikes response in this space Priya

01:11:47
thank you andre, that would be great! ill call on you during the open forum to do so.
