Not forgetting as resisting the impacts of colonization that acts to dehumanize us by disconnecting us from our cultura, and being grounded in the Heart and Spirit, as well as the Body and the Mind. Reclaiming Corazón and all of the Medicine Wheel.

Edmundo he/him/ese
01:27:14
Yes, for most of us “adultism” is the first form of oppression we experience. Freire speaks to this as the oppressed who learn early on to think that the only way to BE is to be like the oppressor, so oppressed men/fathers replicate their oppression in the family.
Nicholas Moore-Nieland
01:28:35
what is adultism?
Edmundo he/him/ese
01:30:12
Parallel to “racism”, which is prejudice plus power, adultism is privileging adult needs, voices, experiences as being more important than those of youth and kids.
Michelle Ordonez
01:30:43
Same in Colombia
Ashley Villeda
01:31:50
Beautiful!!!!!
Amy (she/her/hers)
01:31:59
Thank you Roberto, your story is so powerful!
Edmundo he/him/ese
01:32:15
It is presuming that “adults” deserve more that kids, just by the fact that they are older and have more physical power and access to resources. We all grow up with this, but why should this be so? All human beings deserve the equal respect and to have their needs attended to.
Ashley Villeda

Nicholas Moore-Nieland
01:38:01
@edmundowell, as someone who was a kid back in the day, I was (and still am to a large degree) a moron, my opinion should not have been taken seriously. so putting the opinions of persons who are largely ignorant of many of the factors that relate to whatever issue is at hand above the opinion of someone who (likely) knows more about the subject, seems somewhat short sighted. You don't know what you don't know. That being said, deferring to an adult's opinion on the basis of their authority alone is a foolish thing to do. Especially if there isn't a mutual agreement that they are an authority on the topic being discussed.
Adriana/Ohlone (Ella/Her/Yeh)
01:38:05
